During the Coronavirus Pandemic all physical meetings at Mead Hall are suspended until further notice. Please refer to the Annual Programme page for details of Virtual meetings.
In normal times the club meets on the first Wednesday of every month from 7.00pm to 10.00pm in the Mead Hall Wheathampstead.
The meetings are generally based around a workshop, talk or demonstration from club members or guest speakers. Members are encouraged to bring their trees to the workshops where advice and guidance is always available.
The club also runs a table show at most meetings where members can display their trees in all stages of Bonsai development, here they are judged, given advice and awarded points which go towards winning the clubs Rose Bowl Trophy and the RHS Banksian Medal.
During the Pandemic, the table show competition has ‘gone virtual’, and photographs of members trees submitted are displayed on this website monthly. The advice from the judge is published in newsletters to members, and is designed to help members with styling and tree maintenance.
The club has a small library of Bonsai books and magazines that are available on free loan to members. Throughout the year the club holds occasional weekend workshops, displays at public events and licenced tree collecting expeditions. The Clubs Annual Show over the second weekend in June showcases the work of members, and the availability of the hobby.
In 2015, an invitation to exhibit at the Herts County Show resulted in a Gold Medal and the Cup for the best exhibit in the Horticultural Marquee.
